The Cleveland Soccer Foundation (CSF) is a multi-faceted charitable organization (501c3) which seeks to bring hope to our world through the world's most popular sport.
It is widely recognized that sport provides youth with more than just physical development. The character and strength of many of our leaders in the world today was forged through their experiences in sports competition during their formative years. With sport being such a powerful means of formation in the lives of youth, CSF has a vision to work through sport in a positive way so that young people develop in all areas of their lives. CSF recognizes that millions of children and youth throughout the world face a myriad of challenges growing up in our present world. Poverty, disease, lack of education, marginalized spiritual and social constructs all can contribute to a life without hope and direction. As we look around the world we realize that these youth have a good chance of facing at least some of these challenges regardless of what continent they live on. CSF is making a difference by training soccer coaches who will do more than teach the skills of the game. These coaches provide a positive and hope-filled perspective on life along with practical skills to become successful off the soccer field. They are mentors to the young people they coach, providing an example for them to look up to. This has the potential to be a life-changing example that will remain in their minds and in their hearts for the rest of their lives.
At times CSF also helps provide programs that require a larger organization to be developed. These programs are formulated to deal with the specific economic, health, social and spiritual challenges that the young people may be facing.
The Cleveland Soccer Foundation, formed in Cleveland OH in 2007, presently working in Southeast Asia and Africa and has conducted projects in a number of other countries including Haiti.
